1.1 INTRODUCTION

In many developing countries, including Nigeria, RTAs are a growing concern due to factors such as poor road infrastructure, reckless driving, inadequate traffic management, and lack of public awareness about road safety. Malumfashi Local Government Area (LGA) in Katsina State is not immune to these challenges. The frequency of road traffic accidents in this region has raised concerns among the local population, authorities, and stakeholders.
The impact of RTAs extends beyond the immediate consequences of injury or death. It has far-reaching effects on families, communities, and the economy. Families often face emotional trauma, loss of breadwinners, and increased financial burdens due to medical expenses or loss of income. Communities suffer from reduced productivity and increased demand for healthcare services. Therefore, it is crucial to identify the factors contributing to RTAs in Malumfashi LGA, assess their effects on families, and propose solutions that could mitigate these accidents and their associated impacts. 1.2 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
